Drupal is a free and open-source content management system, which was written in PHP. But I imagine that just flew straight over your head, right? It’s understandable; it’s a lot of technical jargon- but no need to worry! Let’s try and break it down a little, to give you a larger picture of what Drupal is. First, let’s take a look at what Drupal is as a project; a content management system (or CMS for short). A content management system is quite simple, really: it’s a program that you install on a website, which allows you to easily create, manage, maintain, and edit entire websites, without having to trawl through thousands

I’ve been a bit wary of writing about the US Election as of late, noting that it is a very divisive topic, and hindsight – despite it being humanity’s favourite tool – is also the least useful thing that we can use. Foresight, after all, prevents disaster; hindsight merely serves to learn from disaster. Despite, with Trump’s recent win on November 8th, it’s come to my attention that a discussion on the US Election going over my personal opinions, facts and reasons behind them, and considering the impact that a Trump presidency may mean, is needed. Thus, let’s begin. I’d first like to express that  I only considered two presidential candidates

Ave, the material design IRC client that I’ve been working on, is now at release version 0.2! That’s right, folks, it’s working and ready for new users. Version 0.2’s primary focus is on new IRC users, who might not fully understand how IRC works, or aren’t of a mind to memorise a whole bunch of commands, their syntaxes, and such. Every command utility that I would expect a new IRC user to need, or use, has been given a space within the User Interface, making it a breeze to join channels and such (without having to use a /join command). The new update is available on the update server, and is available

So, as most will probably know, the long-awaited Skyrim Special Edition was released yesterday, and thus, given that I had previously bought the Skyrim Legendary Edition, I’ve had the opportunity to take it for a spin. … Hence this post. In terms of branding, SSE features an improved, flatter icon – which, personally, I prefer over the original. Once you pull up the launcher, you then also get to see that they’ve slightly redesigned it to make it both more simplistically designed and darker themed (along with the noticeable absence of the “Data files” button that’s so memorable from the previous instalments in the Elder Scrolls game franchise). But who cares, right? Get into

Some of the more eagle-eyed of you may have noticed a very prominent change to my website today, being greeted instead by this: Rather than the usual full-page “With passion comes innovation” header. The past week or so I’ve been working on this brand new website design, which more stringently follows the Google Material Design guidelines. And now, I’m please to roll the change out for all the web to see, and now open source. The new site’s source is available, for anyone curious, in the scratso.github.io GitHub repository, from which changes will be automatically built by GitHub as necessary. Along with this source opening, the new site – following from the Ave website that

I know what you’re thinking: woah, woah, wait a goddamn minute Damian, this is the 21st century! Who even uses telegrams anymore? Well, don’t worry, because I’m not talking about through-the-post telegrams; I’m talking about the super secure messenger, Telegram. You see, I’m a huge advocate of freedom, free software, privacy, etc, and these days secure messaging is somewhat… lacking. Sure, you’ve got WhatsApp, but they’re still owned by Facebook – one of the largest invaders of privacy to date (checked your cookies at all? I bet you have a Facebook tracking cookie.) So, Telegram is a – shall we say – breath of fresh air in the messaging industry. So,

Hi! So, this is my new blog, from which I’ll just post updates with regards to my products / projects and the like. I’ll probably also comment on things that interest me, annoy me, etc, and that includes providing my opinion about what Microsoft and the like are doing, from the point of view of a Free Software supporter. It’s probably also a good idea to expect the odd post detailing topics that are commonly misunderstood with the intent to inform and educate. Need I say that the views expressed in this blog are my own? Or that no views are expressed with malicious intent? I guess not, but it’s there
